About
The Lackner-Tinnacher winery is nestled between vineyards on a chain of hills near the village of Gamlitz. Vines have been cultivated here for centuries and recorded documents link the family’s winemaking history all the way back to 1770. Today, the young vintner Katharina Tinnacher runs the classy estate, whose several hundred year old buildings are furnished with modern interior design that share the elegance and timelessness with her wines. Focused on varieties that thrive best in Südsteiermark, the most important grape variety is Sauvignon Blanc followed up by Morillon. All fruit is sourced from the family owned six single-vineyard sites of very old and deeply rooted vines, each of which has its own pedigree well known to them. Katharina Tinnacher places special emphasis on organic viticulture and crafts wines far from any Zeitgeist: They clearly show the uniqueness of the Südsteiermark terroir by reflecting the soil, the vintage, the traditional way of vinification and all the subtle nuances of each single vineyard.
