Description
Our vineyards on the site Ungerberg possess a soil structure which gives a mighty, ripe tannin and expressive minerality to varieties that ripen late. The wines from this growing area always “taste” like Ungerberg, which is why we allow wines from Ungerberg to mature separately.
Up to vintage 2002 it was Blaufränkisch from a single grape variety, from 2003 up to 2006 it was a cuvée with Merlot and some Cabernet Sauvignon. But ultimately we discovered varietal wines for us. From vintage 2007 onwards there was a Blaufränkisch and a Merlot from a single grape variety from Ungerberg again and that’s the way it’s supposed to stay!
