Vineyard: Nelas
The Kelman family vineyard lies in the heart of the demarcated region of Dão, a plateau surrounded by mountain escapes as Serra da Estrela, Serra da Nave and Serra do Caramulo. It is one of the oldest and most traditional wine regions of Portugal. The vineyard has 7 hectares of native varieties planted in year 2000. Our vineyard stands at 450 meters on a mild slope. Sandy soils of granitic origin provide good drainage. The temperate climate of continental influence offers cool, rainy winters and dry, sunny summers. Daily temperature amplitude favors grapes with a good balance between sugar and acidity, key to producing elegant and fresh wines with great potential for aging.
