About
The Miyasaka family founded the Masumi Sake Brewery in 1662 in Suwa, at the center of the Japan Alps in Nagano Prefecture. The name Masumi is from a national treasure, Masumi no Kagami, meaning “mirror of truth.” Already a famous gold-medal winner, the brewery achieved even greater recognition in 1946 with the discovery of a new yeast variety called Number 7, which continues to be the most widely-used sake yeast in the world.
