THE COMPANY The bottles we produce are dedicated to the memory of our father LUIGI GIUSTI . During the 70’s and 80’s he innovated the vineyards and restored the antique 18th century winery situated in the historical centre of Castelferretti . THE VINEYARD We have 15 hectares of vineyards under cultivation in the Montignano hills , producing onlywine with the official Lacrima di Morro d’Alba label . We take great care to grow our grapes in labour intensive , environmentally –friendly conditions ,with minimal use of chemical treatments . THE VINE The unique Lacrima grape , ( Lacrima means “tear”), grows only in the area around the castle of Morro d’Alba in the Marche region of central Italy . The Lacrima di Morro d’Alba is a red berry vine typical of our territory which is currently cultivated in a very limited area . Our wines are produced under the strict controls of the national system which regulates wine production , know as DOC , (Denominazione di Origine Controllata ), which specifies the six small villages in the Province of Ancona which comprise the lacrima wine-growing area . THE GRAPES We produce wines only with Lacrima di Morro d’Alba grapes . In our vineyards we have increased the number of vine-stumps per hectare , we limit the use of fertilisers by reducing the number of mature grapes produced by each vine . The grapes are picked by hand when they are judged to be at the precise point of ripeness required . They are put in small boxes and brought straight to the nearby cellars .
