About
Concurrently with building their monastery, the Benedictines who settled on the Sacred Hill of Pannonia in 996 revived the viticulture once introduced to the region by the Romans. 50 years following the nationalization drive in the wake of World War II, the Archabbey Pannonhalma resuscitated this tradition again by establishing new plantations and winery. Two thirds of the newly planted 50 ha vineyards were devoted to white, one third to red grape varieties. Using cellar technology optimized for the varietal composition and based on gravitational movement, we produce 400.000 bottles per year.
