Beautiful flavours of rubarb, gooseberries and some peaches. On the palate, gooseberries, peaches and a hint of Blackcurrant and tropical fruit. Great structure, beautifully integrated acidity, salty minerality and creamy texture. Lovely finish with fruit flavours lingering on.

Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand. Then in the winery, partly destemmed and macerated before pressing and partly pressed as whole bunch. The fermentation took place mostly in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 12° and 20° C. Vinification was carried out with various yeasts, including the vineyard's own indiginous yeast. A small part of the wine was fermented in seasoned German oak barrels with a capacity of 330 litres . After fermentation, the wine was then stored on its lees for six months.
Vineyard: Gladstone
The vineyard is located next to the beautiful Ruamahanga River at Gladstone / Masterton about 30km north of Martinborough. The soil consists of alluvial free draining gravel with a high content of iron.
Viticulture
Vintage 2017 was a little difficult. Summer was nice and warm and the Pinots were already ripe at the end of March. But as we wanted to pick Sauvignon Blanc with nice tropical fruit flavours, we needed to wait a little longer. Unfortunately the rain then started and in the end we needed to do some intense sorting. But all went well and we were able to pick this lovely style.
Maturation
Due to the long storage on the lees and the absent addition of ascorbic acid, the flavours is not overly strong, just clearly recognizable. Over the years this moderate flavour intensity remains and it does not matter if you drink the wine in 2018 or 2022. Thanks to the screw cap with a tin liner, the shelf life is very high. 10+ years.
